Michael Steiner is an LA based producer of film and virtual reality with a passion for provocative and entertaining human stories. Currently, he is focused on pairing emerging technologies with the next generation of artists and innovators.  He is always testing the boundaries of storytelling by working in different mediums and styles, fiction and non fiction. As the traditional entertainment industry shifts, he is most passionate about innovating the ways in which VR and film can blend together to create the highest quality experiences for the myriad audiences engaging the technology.

 

Michael is an alumni of AFI Conservatory producing program. His short film DAY ONE was nominated for a 2016 Academy Award after winning the 2015 BAFTA US Student Award, two Student Emmys, the 2015 Student Academy Award. He has since gone on to produce and Executive Produce narrative and documentary features (MEET THE PATELS, PRISM, CHICKEN PEOPLE) and a variety of Virtual Reality experiences. He has produced content with top companies in the VR space and brings the experience necessary to maximize the potential of these emerging tools. He is a Colorado native and attended Brown University and the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Alex Henning is an Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor who won for Best Achievement in Visual Effects in 2012 on Martin Scorsese's HUGO. His work has also earned awards from the Visual Effects Society and the International Press Academy, as well as a BAFTA nomination.

 

A hands-on expert in the art and science of synthetic images. Alex has created and supervised visual effects on a variety of projects including feature films, television, commercials, music videos, and theme park rides. His film credits include STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS, AFTER EARTH, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, SHUTTER ISLAND, THE GOLDEN COMPASS, SUPERMAN RETURNS, SIN CITY, and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.

 

A native Californian, Henning was born and raised in Berkeley, and holds a degree in Art from the University of California at Santa Cruz. His resume includes engagements at many prestigious visual effects companies, including Digital Domain, Pixomondo, The Syndicate and The Orphanage. Alex‘s work has taken him around the globe, for filming and post-production, and as both a guest and keynote speaker at several industry events. Henning has lived and worked in Europe, Asia and South America.

JOSHUA RUBIN

Joshua Rubin is a veteran of the entertainment industry, with nearly 20 years of experience in Film, TV, Video Games and VR. 

 

He was a Lead Writer at Telltale Games, where he worked on some of the biggest franchises of this century — GAME OF THRONES, THE WALKING DEAD and MINECRAFT. He was part of the core creative team at Bungie responsible for DESTINY — one of the most played games of the decade — and at Ubisoft, where he co-wrote ASSASSIN'S CREED 2 — one of the most respected. His ASSASSIN'S CREED 2 script was nominated for Best Video Game Writing by the WGA, AIAS and BAFTA.

 

Joshua's roots are in film and TV, where his very first screenplay, a love story set in Paris and New York, was one of the five winners of the prestigious Nichol Fellowship (2000) -- the annual contest for best unproduced screenplays held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2009, he sold his first ever TV pitch to the SyFy Channel.

 

As SUBVERSE, Joshua consults with creative studios on their interactive narratives, helping to shape immersive stories and building worlds for both VR and traditional rectangular games.

JOSEMA ROIG
Director

Josema Roig is a Los Angeles based writer/director and a pioneer in interactive storytelling from Valencia, Spain. His last traditional short was his AFl thesis film (STARMAN, 2015) which won 8 Best Short Film awards worldwide, including Memphis, Rome and Palma. It also took home Best Director at Blackbird and FIDEC, and played in over 40 Film Festivals around the globe. It was as selected for the prestigious AFI Showcase 2015, where it was named to the Top Three. Josema‘s directorial debut (ANITA, 2011) played at some of the most important festivals in Europe (Malaga, Alcine, Zinebi, Medina, ExGround), and won Josema the Best Director award in Zaragoza 2012.

 

In his former career as a cinematographer, Josema honed his craft shooting music videos and over twenty short films. He moved on to features with THE GOLDEN GAG (Mariajo Ruiz, 2010) for which he won the Golden Aphrodite Award for Best Cinematography at the Cyprus Film Festival. His last feature was the multiple award winning Spanish indie, ENXANETA (Alfonso Amador, 2011). As part of his unique professional itinerary, he also worked as Performance Capture and Voice Over Coordinator for Triple A games like FALLOUT 4 and RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER, experiences which add to his deep crossover knowledge of traditional and interactive mediums.
